"Ouch" in what sense?
Do you expect to get a shock? You won't. Go grab both battery posts at
the same time. You won't feel a thing.
Ot do you expect to expect your body to create a negative to positive
path, thus casusing the battery to explode (or some oither catastrophe)?
Only if you are more conductive than the jumper cables, in which case you
definitely need a new set of jumper cables.
