TR4-red light out - now tranny question

Thanks to all Brad/Dan rjames etc. Did Dan/s test on generator-it was
excellent. Installed a new regulator today (after putting in 2 used 
ones !) and LIGHT WENT OUT !!
Now, can anyone tell me what may be causing my TR4 tranny to "pop" out
of 2nd. gear ? Other gears seem ok, but I have only been around the
block as I have no fenders or seats installed yet.
I have read my manuals, but cannot find reference to this problem.
