I probably fall into the age group that a mid-life crisis would apply.
Did I have or am I going through... Maybe. But who cares. My wife
doesn't. I had my first TR3 at the age of 17; Lost it to a Trailways
Bus in 1970. It was followed briefly by a GT6 and then a MG-TD. The
latter had to go due to divorce. 24 years later, after years of not
being able to afford, etc. I re-entered the lbc world. Perhaps I still
can't afford it, but it keeps me off the streets (well sort of). And
that my wife definitely doesn't mind. I would venture a guess that
most of those that could be said to be going through a mid-life crisis
are simply at a point in their lives that they can enjoy the "finer"
things in life and choose to do so by enjoying some aspect of their
youth.
20 months of the time I had the '3, I had the "privilege" of enjoying
our government's largesse. I have fond memories of comments, letters,
etc about my dad driving it to keep the tires round and the battery
charged. There evidently wasn't a week that he didn't take it to the
store or somewhere during the time I was away. At the time, he was
the same age I was when I purchased my current driver. Guess it runs
in the family.
So what's the problem.
