What is white spirit? Is it mineral spirits, turpentine or what?

some thoughts from my point of view:

As I understand rustproofing with wax based products the white spirit is
only
there to dilute the wax for application/spraying to make sure it will get
anywhere it should be. Of course the white spirit will not stay and the wax
gets
dry. But the good thing is or should be that if the "waxed" metal gets hot
in
the sun or from engine / gearbox heat, the wax will/should get allmost
liquid
and run into scratches and over rusty survaces, which will prevent rust to
start
or to proceed ( theoretical).

I havenīt tried this product but have found something called "Mike Sanders
Korrosionsschutz Fett". It is also wax based and comes without any
dilution.
Itīs consistence is like cold butter. For application you have to heaten it
untill it melts like ice. It also needs a special heated gun with a heated
pipe
if you want to spray it in cavaties. Sure this is a little complicated, but
this
stuff is winner of a classic car magazin test, where 5 sheet metal samples
were
left outside for some years. Each sample had an other rustproofing material
on
it. All the other ones were more or less rusty or gone after the years.
The main reason for the good result of Mike Sanders fat was that it didnīt
disappear over the years like the other wax based products which ran
completly
down the metal drop by drop untill all of it was gone. Maybe this is one of
the
reasons why Waxoyl recommends reapplying after some years which is a good
idea
for any kind of rustproofing waxes.
BTW it seems VW uses a similar stuff for their cars with good results.I
noticed,
that even 10 year old VWs seem to sweat wax in the sun on very hot summer
days.
Even cars which never saw any rustproofing treatment after leafing the
factory.
