-- Hi, many years ago, like 30, I made up a conversion for a set of lever
shocks that were on my TR-4a IRS,aka TR-6 IRS. I drilled and tapped the
top of the shock to take a hose fitting. Then I welded up a steel tube
and installed a tire valve. a simple bit of hose connected them and I had
"gas" lever shocks. The pressure was low. Like 10lbs and I did try
higher and lower numbers. The idea was not to have the gas do any
"shocking" but to keep the oil in the shock from foaming. I used this car
for many thousands of miles and the "conversion" worked. The memory of
the performance improvement has long fadded but I think the idea might be
of benefit rather than switching to tube shocks. I do not have a car to
play with as my TR-8 is all tubes.
