I hate to ask stupid questions, but did you take it out of gear? I have
never had any trouble turning the fan with the plugs out. I scratch the
devil out of my hand on the radiator, but I can turn it. The only time I
couldn't turn I was in gear and trying to move the car that way.

I finally got the time to work on my TR6 and having a hell of a time trying
to
figure out how to turn the engine to set the valve clearances. I have
removed
the spark plugs to reduce compression, but trying to yank on the fan blades
will
just break the fan.

Sorry for being an idiot on this, but this is the first time I have really
tried
to work on an engine and am a little clueless. The Haynes manual gives the
order and says to turn the engine, but doesn't say how. Any ideas on how to
accomplish this seemingly routine task?

Thanks for all help.
