I don't know if any of you saw Kevin Clemens' article in this month's
issue of European Car, but it's about a group of old car enthusiasts that
got together and rented a warehouse in Ann Arbor for winter storage of
their collectibles. They quickly found a bunch of other folks that needed
storage, and they now have more than 20 cars in the place. The cars range
from newish Ferraris, to several LBCs and a trio of 1950s Cadillacs. They
will only take in interesting cars.

More to the point, the place has also turned into sort of an (old) boy's
club for car nuts. They host a monthly doughnut/bagel/etc. breakfast and
invite friends, wives, etc. to talk and look at cars, socialize, etc. I
have been fortunate enough to be invited to a couple of these, and they're
a great time. In addition to storage, someone brought in a ping-pong
table, they're fixing up an old kitchenette area, and plan to install a
hoist and air compressor in a designated "work" area in the near future.
A fleet of rescued Barcaloungers and big-screen TV can't be far behind.

This is such a good idea, I wonder if others are quietly doing the same
elsewhere?
