As I am working to get the finishing touches done on my 76 TR6, I have come
across a problem with the horn. Troubleshooting the circuits showed the
relays and horns themselves were okay. Looking into the steering wheel is
where the problem was discovered. The car had a replecement steering wheel
put on by a PO. The wheel has a wooden rim, was made in Italy (stamped on
back), also has 9/76 on back (date is was made?) and a stamping on the
front that apperars to be 'E. Varoli" in script (wear makes it hard to
fully read) The problem is the horn brush, mounted in a plastic sleeve,
does not make good contact with the ring around the steering column. The
plastic sleeve (used to insulate the brush from the steering wheel) has
broken at the end and the brush flops around. Any suggestions for a
replacement/repair or should a new horn button be placed somewhere on/under
the dash. Seems it would only require a push button (like a front door
bell, only smaller) to provide a ground the close the horn relay. Any help
would be greatful.
