As some of you may recall, last year, I obtained two 1960 TR3As - in,
shall we say, "unfortunate" condition. My original intention was to save
two TRs from the wrecking ball, using what parts I could. Well, things
haven't turned out as I had planned (now there's a surprise!!) and I'd
like to offer up one of these if any of you can use it.
Condition as follows:
Bonnet and boot lid are in good condition except for some rust along
rear edges of both; not visible from outside the car. I don't recommend
leaving them like that, but wanted to give you some idea of the repair
work needed.
Front apron has rust below grill opening, but I think it can be
salvaged. Given the cost (and reputed quality) of new ones, it should be
worth the effort. Other panels are pretty much toast.
Transmission is not O/D (sorry, but if it was, I'd keep it!)
Other assorted parts appear to be usable (or at least restorable) as
follows: all instruments, dashboard, aluminum cockpit trim molding,
starter, generator, radiator and heater core (both questionable, but
maybe...), hoodsticks and brackets, fuel pump (with priming lever), gas
cap, fuel level sending unit, sidescreens (one set of Dzus plus a single
wedge-mount), NOS exhaust, tail lights (with lenses), steering
wheel/column/box and brackets for hard top (sorry, no top). There's also
one (fixed) seat frame that might be usable. Does have a couple of
pinholes, but is probably salvageable.
Folks, this car has been in my garage since last summer and I just can't
let it sit there any longer. My wife (the saint!) put up with outdoor
parking all last winter and I really want to give the garage back to
her. If any of you are interested, please let me know. There were
several of you interested in these cars last year and, while I saved
your names on my other PC, it seems to have died and my memory "ain't
what it used to be"! 8^)
Car is located in central Connecticut and will definitely require
flatbed transportation. First flatbed here wins. Please let me know if
anyone's interested. Otherwise, the junk yard. Thanks!
