Paul,

Webers by themselves will not give you a 50% increase in bhp.  Add in higher
compression and a performance cam and you might get that but then you are well
past the $2K mark!  I have a 150bhp PI TR6 and the difference between it and the
North American model is compression ratio, cam, exhaust manifold and the PI
system itself - six large intakes that shoot straight into each intake port.
This combination produces the 150bhp out of an otherwise 105bhp engine.

My advice...rebuild the carbs.

I have heard (from a dubious source) that the Weber
combined with a better manifold/exhaust conversion can net around a 50BHP
increase. I have a problem believing that this could give almost a 50%
increase!!!!. Any ideas where I might be able to find the Webers for less
than $1650?.
