I have just read Fred's article and found it most interesting as I have just
been down the same road tracing the ownership of my 1966 TR4A.
Luckily for me the vehicle was last USA registered in Tennessee. (Many
thanks to Penny Edwards of Tennessee Title and Registration Division in
Nashville she was so helpful and prompt with her replies and advice. All it
cost for all the extensive information was $15 about 10 UK Pounds). The
Tennessee records went back to 1969.
My problems started when I asked Florida Title and Registration for similar
details.
I sent a simple Email request stating the info I wanted detailing the year
of the vehicle etc. They sent me a request form to fill in. It was only
after filling in the form in detail that I noticed in the small print that
their records only go back nine, yes only nine years!
When I queried this I received a curt note to say that it was State policy.
Pretty useless I would say.
I have found out from The British Heritige Trust that it was originally sold
new in Jacksonville in late January/early February 1966. So three years
missing.
Anyone on the list have any ideas how to fill in the gap?

Regards
Adrian
