John,
When my Spit 1500 starting doing this two years ago it was nothing to do
with the ign. switch. It was the starter solenoid. (which is separate from
the starter and sits on the firewall on a Spitfire) Next time it doesn't
fire give the solenoid a quick rap and see if it makes the connection.
