Ouch!  Yes, the door-top pad goes next to the metal and it's glued.  It
is, after all, what you pull on to close the door, unless you roll down
the window.  And I can guarantee you that an occasional passenger will
use the pad.  I've used that gooey yellow trim seal stuff, but since you
already have the fuzzy strip on why not try a clear adhesive and see if
you can't wedge the edge of the pad with adhesive behind the fuzzy strip?

You just knew this had been too easy, didn't you?
