Bill,

If the tranny is the later GT6 type, the parts are pretty much interchangeable 
with the full synchro 3-rail Spit (circa MkIV) tranny. 
That goes for the mainshaft too.

The GT6 tranny would have to be modified to work in the spit.  See the Spitfire 
tips archive for a blurb I wrote up for last month's

You will also have to obtain a different clutch disk to mate with the larger 
GT6 splines.  Ted Schumacher can provide that.

I am going to be using this box (without OD) in my Spit Race car with a 
modified 1296 (1351 cc) engine.  The diff is a 4.11 and I don't
think there will be any problems with this combination.  For the Spit, you will 
want to stay with a pretty low geared differential,
particularly with the OD counteracting the high revs on the top end.

Sounds like a good fit to me.  Let me know it you go through with it.
