FWIW - Last year I finally got around to replacing   all the emissions 
control stuff on my 73 tr6 partly in anticipation of new tight standards here 
in RI. Since then the lady has never run better. Of course, that's not all I 
did; also new heavy duty manifold gasket. But now the vacuum loops are tight 
and all is well.
Just my experience.    John
