Want to thank everyone for their explanations about point gaps, I think I
actually learned something. Not a mechanic yet, but perhaps I can get a job
at the local garage changing tires if I can just learn to use an air wrench,
or is that air wench. Speaking of wenches, while driving the TR6 yesterday
two young girls, about 17, and looking like only girls that young can look,
yelled "nice car, can we have a ride". After responding, "thanks, but I'm
going somewhere and I late" I drove off thinking how unfair, I have aged but
the car hasn't. When I drove one of these as a young man it was a great
"pick-up" car, and it still is, while I now think things like; I'm married,
your jail bait, sexually transmitted diseases, aaaaaagh! Yesterday I read
with envy the email from the guy who is re-building his engine, not
necessarily because it needs it, but because it is out of the car while the
shell is being painted, whats an extra $3000. I should have invested in
Microsoft back in '85. As it turns out, two months ago I got a beautiful
paint job and the engine is running great. Now I'm blowing blue smoke out
of the exhaust when I start up, guess it valves, and a pulled spark plug was
showing oil fouling, guess thats rings. Aaaaaagh again. My wife says if I
had bought a Miata we could be going for a drive instead of fixing the TR
again. Thats what I get for marrying a Sicilian, way to practical. Of
course with an average life expectancy of 77 I've got 24 years to get it
running right, and paid for!
