I don't think is would lead to overheating at all.  The amount of cylinder 
temprature is the same with thick walls or thin.  Thinner walls do have a 
greater tendancy to flex and cause poor ring wear / blowby.  If the OD of the 
head gasket side of a 83, 86 sleeve is smaller than a 87 there could be 
sealing problems allowing combustion pressure to enter the cooling system.  
If the 83 and 86 are bored to 87.

The way to end the speculation would be to measure the OD of a 83mm sleeve, 
86mm and 87 mm.   If the OD at midpoint is the same, there isn't any 
advantage to run stock 87mm over a bored 86 or 83.
