I did some searching of archive for info on
reconditioning captive nuts. Got most questions asked,
but there's one I couldn't find an answer for:

http://www.soggycat.com/captivenuts.htm

Above is a page with a couple pics of an example of my
rusted captive nuts. The current focus is the captive
nuts that held the door hinges to body. They were
rusted badly enough to warrant grinding the head off
the bolts. I got the doors off fine, but now I have
most of the bolts still rusted to the nuts. If there
any way to get these nuts out of the cage? Most of the
cages are still solid, as the rust is still just
surface, so I would rather not have no remove the
cages. I know you can typically bend up one of the
sides of the cage not welded and pull the offending
nut out. This becomes a different game when you have a
length of bolt still attached to the nut.

I did see a website that offers new cages/nuts that
you pop-rivet to the body. Should I even consider this
option? Would require drilling many holes into the
body.

As usual, thanks for any advice.
