Listers,

I've been attempting to tune my car this past week, Never really learned how
to fine tune I'm so I'm learning. Early this week I mentioned the problems
I had with the carb linkage, which I solved. I was attempting to adjust the
Idle as the book states to around 500 rpm's, no matter what I did I was unable
to achieve this adjustment. After discussing my tuning problems with Fred and
Randall it was brought to my attention that my tach may be off. I decided to
use an additional tach that was given to me several years ago. As I began to
hook it up a neighbor brought his tach over and we hooked up both. I used both
tachs, First to verify my cars reading and second to verify the machine that
was given to me. My neighbor Kenny has a sun brand engine analyzer I've been
told they are pretty reliable. The good news is that my tach/dwell meter read
exactly as the sun machine. The bad news is that my car read about 350 rpm'
fast. All my attempts to achieve a lower idle could have never been achieved
with that degree of error. If my memory servers me correctly was their a
thread on tach calibration that had a link to an article or website that
covered this subject. If anyone knows this information please let me know
were I can find it.

thanks
Ronnie Babbitt
