Doug,  if you are reasonably adept at soldering it may be easier to
insolder the wires from the old switch and solder them on the new one. 
Failing that I think you will have to loosen the steering shaft support
clamp at the dashboard enough to remove the wiring shroud (U-shaped tube
that conceals the wiring) before you can remove the old harness and feed
through the new.  Assembly is the reverse of the above.
