I've been following this thread (though I forget who first posted it) and it
appears that opinion is divided as to whether copyright still exists.
Hopefully, the following will clarify the situation.

Copyright of all publications attributable to British Leyland or the
individual companies that were integral elements of it prior to 1968 and up
to 2000, is in the hands of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, here
at Gaydon.
Copyright for Triumph oriented publications does not rest and has not rested
with BMW, although BMW is the current legal owner of the Triumph name and
trademark.
The Centre does not wish to be seen as being provocative for the
unauthorised use of publications for which it still holds current
enforceable copyright (under British law), neither would it wish to actively
prevent publication of surviving documents being made available to
enthusiasts "for their own information and use."
To answer the initial query as to whether copyright is still current, the
response is an emphatic Yes.
Very simply, if any enthusiast is in possession of previously published
material likely to be of interest to enthusiasts, our Head Archivist would
be more than grateful for a prior letter describing the purposes and method
of how the information is to be made available and distributed, together
with safeguards that it cannot be later used for profitable purposes.
We try very hard to be amenable in sanctioning the use of printed material
and photographs in our exclusive control and care but (perhaps
understandably?) we much prefer to be asked beforehand for the use of *our*
material. It is within our legal right to prosecute in a court of law if we
feel there is a reasonable case for copyright infringement and we would not
hesitate to follow that course if it was felt appropriate.
Our Head Archivist would be pleased to receive any letter (not a fax or
email) from any enthusiast on this general theme and for reference, the
address is as follows:

Head Archivist
Heritage Motor Centre
Banbury Road
Gaydon
Nr. Warwick CV35 0BJ
England.

I hope this clarifies the thread currently in view.
