Noah,

- -Oil pressure- once the car gets really warm, my idling oil pressure is
20lbs...is this too low? Oil cooler?
I had similiar questions.  My pressure starts at 40 (idle), 65 (highway) then
drops to between 20 and 30 , 50 .  I've tried heavier oil (20w50) and STP oil
treatment for 4 cyl.  Not much difference.  Was also wondering about oil
cooler.  JC Whitney sells a aluminum finned device that wraps around oil
filter.  Cheap and easier than cooler.  May try that first.

- -Shift points- where do you all shift? What is your top RPM for engine
happiness? Engine seems to make noise long before it reaches redline.
I've been accused of shifting too low, around 3K.  Last night was blasting
around and shifting between 3.5 and 4K.  Engine seemed happier.

- -Is the ammeter supposed to alway read a little bit positive, or is
supposed
to go to zero once hte battery is recharged? (mine stays postive all the
time, but the battery may just need a lot of charging)
Mine always seem to be a bit on the charging side.  

- -What is proper idle RPM?
Manual is like 800, my car likes 1000

- -What tire pressures do you all run at?
35 PSI

- -is it bad for the motor to decelerate by downshifting (using hte motor as
a
bit of a brake)? Some people told me it was, but i figured the "i do
rebuilds" crowd would know this for sure.
Brake pads are cheaper and easier to change, but sometimes you need the engine
for rapid deaccerlation. 


- -What eninge oils are you all using? 10W30? Favorite brands?
