polishing aluminum and keeping it that way

Hi the list:

I want to polish up my carbs and keep everything from getting tarnished
again. What is the best method? I have a Dremel so I can buy some brush tips
and save some elbow grease. For protection after polishing, is there some
sort of  shellac or varnish that won't just peel off or yellow?
