I wanted to thank all who provided suggestions for my consecutive problems
of no reaction from the starter and then no oil pressure when the car
finally started. It was pretty simple - the starter issue was the relay,
which wasn't shown on my 1974 wiring diagram. The gem here was Dan Masters
suggestion that the 100$C Triumph part was replaceable with a 5.00 parts
house relay. I've already found one for $5.95 but have to check if 30 amp is
sufficient. The saving ended up covering the cost of ordering Dan's
Electrical book. The oil pressure did come up using the drill through the
distributor method, so presumably it would have anyway after the car ran
long enough - I guess I'm getting too conservative and cautious in my old
age. Thanks again. Jim Sloan, Calgary AB Canada
