OK, got a question - how do you hook up an electric so that it looks like 
the mechanical is working?

Subterfuge, my friend, subterfuge.

Actually, the mechanical pump inlet line can run down to the frame and end
somewhere out of sight.  The hard part is the pump discharge has to run
forward, under the water pump and over to the carbs.  Somewhere the "real"
line (from the electric pump) has to be introduced in a manner that will
not be seen by casual inspection.  If it was easy someone would have
already done it.

I'll give it some thought.
