I believe you said it took around an hour or so before your power loss
starts. IMO this will almost certainly be something electrical. I recently
had this with my P4 Rover which has a double fuel pump and a single  SU HD8
Carb. I did everything one could think of to clean the fuel system but after
40-50 miles the engine would start to miss if you tried to open the throttle
more than 15-20%,

I changed the coil, distributor cap, HT leads, rotor arm, condenser and
points all at the same time as I was on a serious drive, so can't say for
sure what component was faulty, but the problem completely disappeared.

Also had a similar problem with the 4A not long ago if the engine was at low
revs and more than eighth throttle. Turned out to be a very dodgy contact
between the HT wire and the top of the coil.
