for a 1972 gt6 i have these questions. 1) the throttle linkage has a lot of
delay in it. that is, if i advance the throttle lever at the engine i can
push the throttle about an inch before the two carbs are actually actuated. i
note that the rivet from the main throttle lever to the two other levers seems
worn or loose. anyone have advice on how to tighten up all this sloppy
looseness. i note that there is some adjustment that can be made to the
throttle cable where it attachs to the top of the linkage, but this free play
is beyond what the cable can take up. 2) i've dissasembled, cleaned and
adjusted the carbs. now i note that in the workshop manual i can see the carb
tops on in two directions. one picture shows the carbs with the part that has
the line (or part that sticks out) facing out from the engine toward the front
passenger tire. another picture shows it pointing toward the front of the
car. when it is pointed toward the front of the car the words stromberg are
facing you and you can read all the text properly. it appears i can screw the
top on the carb in either position. which is correct ?
you can see pictures of the carb and linkage at
