As I progress,ever so slowly, on the restoration of my 1970 TR6, a potential
problem arose concerning the trunk lid seal and its effect on the top of the
lid's alignment with the top of the rear fenders.

The two piece rear valance assembly was removed in order to repair a large
dent in it. In welding it back together and also to the inner fender well, I
can see that its position, when assembled, will impact the fender alignment;
both up and down and also front to back. I think that I finally have all of
that set, but what I do not know is: does the lid gasket raise the trunk lid
so as to prevent metal to metal contact with the lip of the valance? I can
see how this can effect the top edge of the fender in being even with the top
surface of the trunk lid. I realize that the gasket will probably compress
over time; but I am wondering if I should make some allowance for a separation
between the valance lip and the lid. Any help would be appreciated as I am
hesitant to weld everthing together until I resolve this question. Thanks in
advance.
