Martin,
If you want a durable color matched surface talk to one of the shops in
your area that does Rhino-hyde or similar truck bed coatings I've seen a
few cars that have had this done to the wheel wells and one that the
entire underside of the body shell was done this way. A good operator
can apply the stuff so that it is almost as smooth as paint ( a little
orange peal look to the surface). It's more durable than under coating
and more attractive, the catch 22 is it will cost more.
