Bob,
1. I like 850-900. Your can get id lower but why bother.
Randall is right. Use an electrical tach to measure off the
distributor/coil. Most inexpensive tune-up gadgets/meters have
the Tach function built in.
2. The 1962 electrical system was a POSITIVE ground. Any
semi-modern radio will get fried if you hook it up. What I did
and almost all TR4s I come across have done is switch the
polarity to NEGATIVE ground. It is a 20 minute job on a slow
day. Go to the www.vtr.org site and follow the path to
"Maintenance"
