Hi Listers - speaking of chipped teeth..
Inside this rebuilt tranny found one 'dog-tooth' missing off of first gear
(but 31 out of 32 dog-teeth that align with the syncro teeth are still
intact). It looks like it's been run this way before the rebuild. (the
missing tooth gap is the same dark color as surrounding metal-not shiny new)
Since there are still 31 dog-teeth and it's only 1st gear - will it be OK?
-Or will it require additional force to engage and will it cause faster wear
on the remaining teeth and 'slider' hub?
I'm wondering if this un-used rebuilt tranny should be rebuilt over again
(dang it!) to get 1st gear replaced .. or if '31 out of 32' dog-teeth on 1st
gear would be fine for the next 20+ years.
Any thoughts/advice?
Carl - '63 TR4 since '74 .. hoping to make 2024
