As best I can make out, the threads on the oil gage are 3 BA (British
Associated).
My thread chart gives 3 BA as having a major diameter of .1614", and a
thread pitch of 34.75 tpi.

But, M4.5 x .75 (which translates to .1772" and 33.866 tpi) might be close
enough to work.
