Message text written by "M. Secrest" >I can vouch for this. I blew out the pinion gear on my '72 last summer, with 75k on the clock. < Mine gave me fair warning, I just didn't recognize it. It made an ominous periodic noise that finally when BANG. I was able to drive the 10 miles home very gingerly with a very pronounced rhythmic thump. Upon disassembly, I found a significant portion of a pinion gear tooth had broken away. But enough remained to get me home. I keep a spare,now. Dave |
