There's not an exact conversion from RON octane to the U.S R+M/2, since you
need to know the MON octane to get the average. It looks like there are
comparable gasoline grades available at the pump in the U.S. and UK:
US UK (BS EN 228) RON MON (RON+MON)/2
unleaded 87 unleaded reg. 91 82.5 86.75
midgrade 89 Premium 95 85 90
premium 91 to 94 Super Plus 98 88 93
For reference, 4-star is 97RON, 86MON (91.5 R+M/2)
