Freeing up GT6 Clutch

I always used to get my brother to tow me whilst I was in gear. I would pump
the clutch like mad whilst being towed.
By the time I got a few metres it would always be free.
Of course there was a resulting bang when the clutch freed.
The axle stand method seems a bit more dangerous.
