Steve:

Matt Bakes of Triumph Rescue does an excellent OD rebuild. He is located
outside of Reading, PA. His contact information is on our club's web site's
links page (www.CPTC.org). NFI, but he has done lots of work for club
members.

I'm planning to send my growling TR4 overdrive tranny out for a rebuild.
I'd appreciate recommendations for experienced shops I should consider.
I'm in Colorado USA but would ship if it makes sense. BTW I drained the
fluif and it was a lovely glimmering metallic mix -- the little needle
bearings that washed out were nice and shiny too.

Second, thanks to the several listers with advice on interchangability
of the TR3 and TR4 transmissions. It seems I'd have to spend a few
dollars to fit the TR3 tranny as a stop-gap while I have my TR4
overdrive transmission rebuilt, so instead I'm planning to save those
dollars and sell the TR3 tranny. I was told it was rebuilt by a local
shop and should be able to confirm that next week. I'll post it for sale
here first, but if anyone has a specific interest let me know and I'll
send what details I have this weekend. It's a TR3 tranny, no overdrive,
stamp on the casing side is 301039, appears to require the closed gear
TR3 starter.
