Not silly at all, on the Porsche 914 list travelers post their intended route
then list members near the route post if they are near by.
Sometimes they will meet up at a rest stop/resturant. Word of this ( usually
too short ) meeting is then posted on the list so everyone can see the
progress. Sort of like getting nightly reports of the Apollo spacecraft on
the way
to the moon.
