Stags were supplied with two different
widths of wheels by the factory (as were some of the TRs). Do I have to run
wheels the same diameter and width as my particular car was originally
manufactured with ? Or can I run the wheels that were supplied by the
on other Stags ? What if the dealer installed the factory optional wheels
car ? Would that count as "stock" ?
Randall, I should have known you would come up with a question not
specifically covered in the rules, but I think it would be reasonable to
since VTR rules allow stock class cars to have engine swaps within their model
range, they might also be allowed wheel swaps.
Guess my "closest available reproduction" wheels should have put me in the
modified class ... anyone want to file a protest ?
I'm also still having a hard time with the concept that, as the rules are
written, a potential Concours winning car could be classified as "modified"
VTR autocross ...
unless we do Concours judging on course at the Autox or run the Autox on the
Concourse show field, I don't see the conflict.
I guess for next year I'll have to either modify the car so I can
run in stock class; or else be grouped with the guys running Panasports and
for trying to keep my car original. Decisions, decisions.
nothing says the wheels on the car at the autox have to be the same wheels
on the car at the show - and a Stag would be almost the only Triumph big enough
to carry an extra set of wheels, wouldn't it?
Of course the stock class rules allow trailer hitches so you can pull a
little trailer with those autocross wheels on it.
