I switched my street TR6 over to Silicone fluid three years ago. I 
had replaced parts at the wheels, and the flexible hoses, but I did 
not replace steel lines. I also have not changed the fluid, but I 
will as a result of this very fine article. Bottom line for me was I 
felt no difference and it has not been a problem.

I switched to it as a result of all the praise heaped upon it by the 
collector car community, where the opinion was that while it wasn't 
as good for competition, it was better for cars that saw lots of 
storage time. This article calls that "conventional wisdom" into question.
