Pretty common problem.  I bought a TR4 that had almost a 1/4" deep grove 
in the shaft.


The Factory manual calls for engine mount shims to align the hand 
crank/Rad hole/front dog.  I use the "Horseshoe" type ones that are used 
on the TR4 and TR6 body mounts.  Quite convenient as you do not have to 
lift the engine off the threaded portion of the mount.  I had a stack of 
them laying around but I think that TRF has them for sale.
