Sujit,

Not sure what threads you are looking for, McMaster-Carr sells a =
5/16=E2=80=9Dx1-7/8=E2=80=9D bolt in SS or Grade 5. But I think =
you=E2=80=99re on the right track, cut an 1/8=E2=80=99 off the end and =
move on.

I need a bolt HB815 which is at 5/16 x 1 7/8" long.=20

Rimmer and TRF list this no. under a 2 inch bolt. I'm assuming you can't =
get 1 /78" long bolt anymore. I tried fastenal and Bolt Depot. Not tried =
mcMaster carr.=20

The last time I needed one of these I bought a 2" bolt and cut a bit of =
the end.

I'm just wondering when a blind hole is drilled for a bolt, how much =
dead space is left at the end? Is there some rule of thumb?
