Smart chargers have been on the market for the last 20+ years.=C2=A0 These=
will quickly charge a battery until it is fully charged and then "float" t=
he battery at ~13.7 volts.=C2=A0 You can leave these connected forever with=
out endangering the battery.
In my line of business we buy between 300 and 400 chargers a year.=C2=A0 We=
have tested and evaluated many chargers and these three pass muster.=C2=A0=
There are probably other quality manufacturers out there that do not offer=
the style/size charger that fits our needs so we haven't evaluated them an=
ddon't consider the fact that they are missing from my list as a recommenda=
tion to avoid.

The CTEK model Don referenced is a good charger.=C2=A0 I have a couple at h=
ome and use them when I need to charge a battery.=C2=A0 The units I have ne=
ed to be told what battery type you have (wet cell, AGM, motorcycle) each t=
ime you hook it up.=C2=A0 This is not an issue for car hobbyists but our ap=
plication needed a charger that will start automatically when power is plug=
ged in.
=20
In addition to the CTEK there are a couple of companies to investigate. Cha=
rgePro(R) (a division of Marinco) makes chargers for the boating crowd.=C2=
=A0 While we car hobbyists have a passing interest, boaters live and die by=
their chargers.=C2=A0 Consider that most boats sit idle for months on end =
but have to start and support all manner of electrical accessories like lig=
hts, two-way radios, depth finders and such.
https://marinco.com/en/products/Power-Conversion/Battery-Chargers/Charge-Pr=
o
Another, new company out there is NOCO with their Genius line of chargers.=
=C2=A0 These seem to be readily available and they have a wide selection.
https://no.co/brands/noco-genius
Any of these three come with my recommendation.
