It is good to hear from a new member of the list. I recently resubscribed
and have been concerned with the lack of activity also.
I have 2 TVRs.... a 1973 2500M (2686TM) with 18000 miles on it (crash 14
years ago -- hope to get it restored by end of year) and an 86 280i
(currently in my garage getting a transmission transplant).
I bought my 2500M in 1981 from the 2nd owner. I bought it from G. Michael
Horsley, who was a local dentist and had 2 TVRs. He entered the Air Force
(became an instant captain so he could get a move to San Diego area at gov
expenxe) and then get out of the Air Force and stay. I think he did that,
keeping his blue 2500M also. The air force wouldn't move his other 2500M,
so he made me a deal I couldn't turn down. It had a bad engine and had
8000 miles on it. I restored it and drove it for almost 2 years. Mostly
every day. Then a lady who got her drivers' license from a cheerios box
ran a stopsign and it beat up the front end pretty badly. I have been 'in
the process' of restoring it ever since. I got a new bonnet built by Bill
Joengblood from southern Cal., but just haven't had time to finish it. But
it is a roller now and should be done this year.
The '86 I got almost 3 years ago and usually drive it daily. It is
definitely up-market, although some of the same problems have surfaced.
I love TVRs.
