The Classic Sports Racing Group held its 14th annual Bob Green Memorial
Enduro October 22, 1995. This was the first time the Enduro was held at
Thunder Hill. This race is one of the last places you will ever see a
full LeMans style start. These are the descriptions of the images that
document the "Thunder Hill LeMans" as it has been called. These images
may be found at: ftp://ftp.team.net/vintage/Images. Comments,
questions, requests for reprints, etc. may be sent to simon@lsil.com.

THLM01.JPG: The one minute mark is being given to the drivers. All
drivers stand at the wall opposite the cars. They are required to have
one hand on the wall until the flag drops.

THLM02.JPG: The cars stand silent, waiting for the drivers. In the
foreground is a red Corvette, a turquoise Chevron GT Coupe, and a red
Alfa TZ. A helper waits at each car to buckle the driver in. A course
worker waits between each pair of cars to make sure they do it right.

THLM03.JPG: GO, GO, GO! The drivers charge across the hot pit to get to
their cars. Obviously, some of these guys are a little old to be doing
this sort of thing!

THLM04.JPG: The "fleet-footed" drivers approach the cars. Ever try
running in a helmet?

THLM05.JPG: And they're off! The first car off the line is an Austin
Healey 100-4 driven by Mike Kramer of Vacaville, Ca. The last car off
the line was a Formula Ford driven by Tupper Robinson of Monte Sereno,
Ca. Tupper is still trying to find his belts at this point.

THLM06.JPG: The rest of the field gets under way. The Chevron GT of
Steve Lawrence heads out, followed by other cars at some distance.

THLM07.JPG: The Alfa Romeo Tubolare Zagato (TZ-1) of Marnix Dillenius
finally makes it off the line. The low roof line must not make for easy
ingress.

THLM08.JPG: The little Austin Healey tries to make the most of its
jackrabbit start, but the quicker cars in the field are catching up
fast. This view is straight down the pit wall, which seems to go on
forever. The front straight is 6/10ths of a mile!

THLM09.JPG: Now here's a nice group. The Austin Healey is being chased
down by the Alfa, a 911, and the big Vette! The Alfa made it around on
this pass.

THLM10.JPG: The Alfa TZ at speed.
