I am importing a Lola T 560 Formula Atlantic from its original home in the USA.
I race historics out of here, Sydney, Australia. I have a locally-designed F2
Birrana, a 1969 Lotus Seven-style sports car, and a 1959 Lotus Eleven under
ground-up restoration.
This is the first Lola I have owned, and I find I don't know a lot about them. I
started racing with a Lotus Seven in the UK in 1960, and came across Eric
Broadley then in his first 1172 car, and then the 1100 sports cars. But I have
totally lost touch with type numbers and so on. I mean, I have just seen a
message from James Isbell about his Lola 540 Formula Atlantic. Does anyone know
of a list? I know nobody has written a book about Lola formula cars, but maybe
there's been a good magazine article or series or something.
My 560 is reputed to be the only one. It was an update on the 360/460 series of
Formula B/Atlantic cars. It was originally owned by Jerry Hansen (1977), then
Bruce Clark and Richard George. Anyone know anything about these guys? I bought
it from Dennis Tobin in Elgin, IL.
In short, any info on Lola single-seaters, Formula Atlantic in the US etc
gratefully received.
