Per Appendix A of the 1957 SCCA Competition Regulations (as provided by Jack
Woehrle):

> Formula for Rendering Garments Flame-Resistant
>
> In one gallon of hot water, dissolve 10 ounces of Borax and 8
>ounces of Boric Acid. Dip and soak garments in this solution
>at least three times, allowing garments to dry completely between dippings.
>
> > IMPORTANT NOTE-This treatment is water soluble, and must be repeated
> after
> > each washing or dry-cleaning of the treated garments.
