Electrical kill switch question

Hi gang,
I'm in the process of wiring my Devin from scratch (scary thought) and have a 
question. I am using a one-wire alternator for the first time and need to 
know how to wire it into the kill switch (alternator version with 4 posts). Do 
I 
connect the one wire from the alternator to the switch, then go from the other 
pole on the switch to the battery or ammeter? Or am I WAY off base? Please 
save me.
