[6pack] Speedometer Problem

Hi Patrick-
There are a couple of reasons why your speedometer is "bouncey".
   
   - Inspect the routing of the cable. Make sure it is properly routed and does not have any kinks or sharp bends.   
    

   - Lack of lubrication of the cable can cause it to bind against the sheath. Unscrew the speedometer cable from the back of the speedometer and pull the cable out from the sheath.  Use a light grease to lubricate the length of the cable and then put it back into the sheath taking care to engage it into the OD by gently pushing on it and turning from side to side until you fee the tip engage into the OD. Then thread it into the back of the speedo and tighten up the knurled compression fitting.   
   

   - The speedo has a magnet  disk that is driven and a drag magnet.  If the magnets are slightly binding against each other the speedo can bounce.  This means a professional rebuild. There are a number of places that do this - Nisonger instruments comes to mind.
