Haluk,
The first distributor is an aftermarket replacement distributor (built in the
10th week of 1999) setup for the Mini Cooper S. A Mark I Sprite would
typically have a 40561 DM2 or 40919 Lucas 25D distributor. There were others
as well, but these are e the most popular. The numbers changed by the year of
car.

The second distributor is a DM2, the predecessor to a 25D, and was used in the
58-60 Sprites. Yours is date coded 859, which is August '59.

When was your car produced? I can help you determine what you need of you
want to stay original.
Thanks,
Jeff

Subject: Two distributers

Hello Jeff
I am a member of the Cascade Austin Healey Club and was recommended to contact
you by Joe Hahn. I live mainly in Germany and also in Seattle. I need to
identify two distributers for my Sprite Mk1:
1) Read 43D4 on the body and it is without a vacuum advance unit. Other
numbers - 41403D 1099. This is on the car but is this a Sprite Mk1
distributer?
2) This one is with a vacuum advance unit and only the following numbers are
on the body - 40561F BN260 859. Is this a 25D4?
Any help will be appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
Haluk Taysi
