August 7th and 8th Mt. St. Helens tour and BBQ with the Oregon Club

You can join us for just Saturday's tour and dinner or stay overnight at the
Season's Motel in Morton and go on the train ride on Sunday.  The Seasons

Saturday, August 7th:  Two meeting places:  departing from
Southcenter/Westfield Mall Starbucks at
 8 AM or meet in Morton at the Seasons Motel with departure at 11 AM.

Phil and Beckie Daniels will lead us on a tour to Mt. St. Helens Windy Ridge
Visitor Center.  If you have not been to this viewing point, it is great.  The
drive is about 35 miles of winding paved two lane roads virtually on the side
of the mountains.  The viewpoint is closer to the mountain than the Johnson
Ridge one and about the same elevation.  Bring binoculars.  The park service
provides a 25 minute talk about the eruption and takes questions.

What to bring:  binoculars, a picnic lunch (lunch will be about 1 PM), your
park pass or $5.00 for the entry to the park, water, drinks, hand sanitizer
(outhouse facilities only), litterbag, sun hat and /or umbrella for shade
(there is no shade).

BBQ Dinner will be at Phil and Beckie's home near Onalaska at 6 PM.

Phil and Beckie will supply the main course.

What you bring:

Your own drink--alcohol is acceptable.

A thru E        salad or bread

F thru K        vegetable or appetizers

L thru P        potato or pasta

Q thru Z         dessert

Sunday August 8th:

Train ride out of Elbe.  Departing the Seasons Motel at 9 AM,  arrive at Elbe
at 10 AM for the train Ride.
 Lunch in Elbe.
